SPDC Niger Delta Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme– Am so delighted to tell all interested applicant what SPDC Niger Delta Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme  is all about.  is a program used by Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) to support applicants from Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers states for one-year postgraduate degrees.

The  objective of the SPDC Niger Delta Postgraduate Scholarship scheme is to provide an opportunity students from the three states who are qualified to further their education in courses that are relevant to the oil and gas

However Ten scholarships are awarded to all  qualifying students every year, and these are in partnership with three internationally recognized universities in the United Kingdom as follows:

Imperial College London
University College London and
University of Leeds.


Listed below are the following courses qualify for the scholarship at the three institutions:

MSc Petroleum Engineering
MSc Petroleum Geoscience
MSc Petroleum Geophysics
University College London

MSc Chemical/Process Engineering
MSc Mechanical Engineering
MSc Civil Engineering
University of Leeds

Msc Exploration Geophysics
MSc Electronic/Electrical Engineering

Requirements for SPDC Niger Delta Postgraduate Scholarship

In order to qualify for the SPDC scholarship scheme, applicants must:

i.  Interested applicant must aleast display intellectual ability and leadership potential, in addition meet the University’s English language requirements (usually at least 6.5 in IELTS or equivalent TOEFL).

ii. Applicant must be between 21-28 years by end September of the year of admission

iii. All applicant Must be indigenes of Rivers, Delta or Bayelsa States (proof of this will be required) and must currently reside in Nigeria

iv. Male OR Female applicant must promise to return and take up permanent residence in Nigeria after completion of the proposed programme of study

v. Applicant must have obtained UK Second Class Upper or (Honours Degree) university degree at a minimum and must not have studied in the UK or any other developed country previously.

vi. You must not be a spouse, child or ward of staff of Shell Companies in Nigeria or Karamat Ltd

Please that, the SPDC Niger Delta Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme will only be responsible for the student’s tuition fees, one return flight ticket from Nigeria to the UK and a contribution towards living expenses only.
